JORVIK Viking Centre

The world-famous JORVIK Viking Centre is a must-visit destination in York and one of the UK's top attractions. Situated on the very site of the Coppergate dig, where thousands of Viking artifacts were unearthed, JORVIK brings the stories of the Vikings who lived and thrived here nearly 1,000 years ago to life.

Barley Hall

Barley Hall is a medieval townhouse that has been restored to its former glory after being rediscovered in the 1980’s. It boasts stunning high ceilings, beautiful exposed timber frames and a magnificent Great Hall. Learn about the hall’s former residents which included the Priors of Nostell and even a former Mayor of York

You can find Barley Hall off of Stonegate down the alley opposite the Evil Eye Bar and Lounge.

DIG

DIG is a hands-on archaeology-themed visitor attraction created by the people behind JORVIK Viking Centre. Giving visitors the chance to become trainee ‘diggers’ and discover the most exciting artefacts from 2000 years of York’s history!  Ideally suited for ages 5 to 12, with additional Dig Deeper tours designed for our adult visitors.

DIG is located inside St Saviour's Church on St Saviourgate.

Parliament Street

Parliament Street, the heart of York's shopping district, is also home to our bustling Viking encampment! Here, you can watch skilled craftsmen at work, listen to traditional Viking music, hear captivating sagas, and even witness thrilling fighting displays. Don't miss the chance to explore and sample authentic Viking wares!

Merchant Adventurers' Hall

The Merchant Adventurers' Hall is a medieval guildhall in the city of York, England. It is a Grade I listed building and scheduled ancient monument. It is the home of the 10th century traders market explore the stalls, soak up the atmosphere, and enjoy the excellent range of Viking goods on sale, from hand-crafted weapons to authentic jewellery and much more!

The Eye of York

The Eye of York provides the perfect backdrop for some of our most thrilling festival events, including the epic battle re-enactment, the exciting Viking Games, and The Battle for York!

The Eye of York is the oval patch of grass that is surrounded by the Crown Court, the Castle Museum and Clifford’s Tower.

Explore York is the main library in York city centre and they operate 15 other libraries in the city. We have partnered with them to create the Bloodaxe Book challenge a chance for little Vikings to get into reading.
