Get Involved

Fantastic opportunities to get involved with the JORVIK Viking Festival as a Volunteer.

Have you got a passion for Viking history and archaeology? Would you like to be a part of the JORVIK Viking Festival, helping us welcome thousands of visitors to the city each year as we celebrate York’s Viking heritage? Are you looking for a short-term opportunity giving you the chance to contribute to the work of York Archaeology and gain hands-on experience in heritage events at Europe’s biggest Viking Festival?

Knowledge of Viking history and previous events experience is not required, we will provide full training and support and everything you need to know. We welcome expressions of interest from anyone enthusiastic about Viking history or heritage events, and who wants to help us provide a warm welcome and a great experience to a wide range of visitors.

Volunteers get involved in roles across our programme of events. This could be meeting and greeting visitors, offering directions and answering visitor questions on our volunteer run Information Hubs, helping steward events or supporting our interactive staff with our program of hands-on crafting and family events. Explore our JORVIK Viking Festival roles below!

Opportunities are open to anyone aged 18 or above. Applications are now closed for this years festival.
