The Viking World was made up of many different peoples, both in the Scandinavian homelands and in the wider Viking diaspora. As a result, it is possible to identify many different 'local' styles, and examples of fusion between 'Vikings' and other cultures, as well as more generic fashions that can be traced across the Viking world. Gareth Williams, Curator of Viking Collections at the British Museum, explores the diversity of Viking material Culture, with particular reference to jewellery from the Island of Gotland currently on display at JORVIK Viking Centre.
