Family Fun with the Vikings: Five Fab Events This Saturday in York

The invasion has started!  The Vikings have once again taken over York as part of the 33rd JORVIK Viking Festival (20 – 26 February), and this Saturday (25 February) is the biggest day with a host of major events – many of which are free – around the city streets.

JORVIK Viking Festival Finale moves back to the Eye of York

“It was York’s unique waterlogged conditions that preserved the Viking remains in Coppergate for 1000 years, and we’ve learned that there is no way to tame the elements.  With so much standing water on our potential battlefield at Rawcliffe Country Park at the moment, we’ve decided to move the Festival finaleback to its recent home of the Eye of York,” comments event manager, Nicola Harkess.

Park & Raid! Wanna-be Vikings to swap longships for long buses during JORVIK Viking Festival

When the Vikings arrived on our shores, it was thanks to the wind in their sails and the power of their rowing that they were able to get to the heart of the city, but visitors to this year’s JORVIK Viking Festival will have a much easier access thanks to a partnership with First York, which is inviting Norse fans to ‘Park & Raid’ into York during the week of the Festival (20 – 26 February).
